Botox vs. Ultherapy

Loose skin, saggy cheeks, and wrinkled skin all appear with the passage of time. This is the natural aging that everyone wants to conceal. Most people desire to look young. For this to be achieved, they have to find ways to suppress the effects of time on their faces. Throughout history, countless products and procedures have been formulated to achieve that singular goal. Today, a wide range of non-surgical treatments are available to the public. Botox and Ultherapy are two of those treatments.

Botox

Botox involves a small injection of botulinum toxin under the skin in the area where wrinkles have formed. Botox relaxes the muscle movement around the area where the wrinkles have been identified. The skin over the wrinkle relaxes as well, which causes the wrinkle to soften. The treatment is useful for forehead creases, crow’s feet, and other wrinkles on the upper part of the face. The full results are softened wrinkles that give the face a more youthful appearance. It is not an effective treatment for wrinkles that are caused by gravity or overexposure to the sun since those do not involve the muscles. It takes 3-7 days to see the full effect of the injections. The effect will last 4-6 months.

Ultherapy

Ultherapy is an ultrasound treatment. Ultherapy stimulates collagen production deep within the skin that lifts and smooths the skin. Ultherapy is used between the eyebrows, on the neck, under the chin and on the décolletage. The procedure takes less than an hour. There is no downtime. Some improvement is seen immediately, but the full effect is seen in 2-3 months as the natural production of collagen continues. Most people only require one treatment. The results are softened wrinkles and fuller, youthful-looking skin.

Which Treatment Is Right for You?

Both Botox and Ultherapy are well-tested and safe anti-aging procedures. Many people find it difficult to choose a non-surgical “facelift” procedure. It is important to weigh the pros and cons of each treatment. Scheduling a skin consultation with an expert technician at a med spa can help with your final decision.
