What Is Dermaplaning?
Dermaplaning is a treatment method that relies on the use of a medical-grade blade to remove the outermost layer of dead skin cells and vellus hair (also called “peach fuzz”) from your skin. This method is essentially a controlled “scraping” of the skin using a sterile surgical blade. Dermaplaning differs from dermabrasion—which simply relies on a high-speed rotating brush—and can eliminate vellus hair that was not treatable by laser hair removal.
Dermaplaning treatments at BodyLase are done to improve your skin’s smoothness, elasticity, and texture. The treatment has also been shown to decrease the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, increase serum absorption, and facilitate flawless makeup application. Dermaplaning can even address deep skin imperfections that dermabrasion cannot, including acne scarring.

How Does Dermaplaning Treatment Work?
A dermaplaning procedure is very similar to shaving. This treatment involves holding a blade at a 45-degree angle and dragging it slowly across your skin, thereby exfoliating specifically targeted areas. This simple, yet effective process removes dead cells, scar tissue, and other debris that may be making your skin’s surface look uneven. The entire session takes about 30-45 minutes and results last between 4-6 weeks, depending on hair growth.
