Is a Chemical Peel Right for You?

If you’re dealing with fine lines, sun damage, post-breakout scarring, or texture that won’t correct; our providers can formulate a peel that’ll help. Most skin types respond well to some form of chemical exfoliation; it really just comes down to finding the right depth and formula for yours. Our aestheticians assess both before recommending anything. Not sure where to start? Our acne and acne scarring and fine lines and wrinkles pages will help you figure out where a peel fits in to your self-care routine.

Chemical Peels Treat More Than Just Dull Skin

A well-chosen peel can clear congestion, fade post-acne marks, and improve skin texture in just a handful of treatments.

Acne Control
Chemical peels get into the pore, reduce sebum production, and work against the bacteria driving breakouts. If you’re dealing with adult acne, a series of treatments can make a real difference in both how often you break out and how severe it gets.
Pigmentation & Melasma
Sun spots, post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation, and melasma all respond well to the right peel formula. By accelerating cell turnover, peels help fade discoloration and even out tone with minimal downtime and glowing results.
Better Product Absorption
Clearing the outer layer of dead skin cells doesn’t just change how your skin looks. It changes how it responds to everything you put on it afterward. Products penetrate more effectively post-peel, which means you get more out of every product you use.

Chemical Peel FAQs

If you have questions about chemical peels, you’re in good company. Here’s what we get asked most often.

Not necessarily. Some peels cause visible shedding, others just mild flaking, and some very little at all—but the exfoliating agents are active regardless. When peeling does occur, most clients see it resolve within 7-10 days. Your aesthetician will walk you through what to expect based on the specific formulation you received.

A chemical peel is a quick and easy way to refresh your skin. Most chemical peel appointments at BodyLase only take about 30 minutes!

Light and medium peels have little to no downtime—you can return to your normal activities the same day.

Most chemical peels are safe for a range of skin tones, though the type and strength of peel should be chosen based on your skin type and individual concerns. Your aesthetician will evaluate your skin carefully to select the peel best suited to you.

It depends on your skin goals. Light peels can be repeated every few weeks for ongoing maintenance; while medium peels are typically spaced a few months apart. Your aesthetician will recommend a cadence based on your goals, and how your skin responds after the first treatment.

Chemical peels are made of a range of different nutrients and acids. The most common are glycolic peels, but there are also trichloroacetic, lactic, carbolic, and salicylic peels. These can help target a variety of concerns including excess oil, acne breakouts, sun damage, wrinkles, and other similar skin problems.
