As one of the latest aesthetic treatments, Qwo® has generated quite a bit of buzz! The treatment has been highlighted in Modern Aesthetics, AEdit, and other popular aesthetics publications. But despite all of its media coverage, not a whole lot is yet known about Qwo® cellulite reduction. Sure, according to the official Qwo® website, this injectable has been studied in more patients than any other FDA-approved treatment, exploring results in over 1,800 women! Yet, how exactly does it work, and can it really provide you with the results you’re looking for?
Here at BodyLase® Med Spa, we believe in providing our clients with the absolute best. As such, we do our research before introducing any treatment into our practice. Below is what you need to know about Qwo®, the first of its kind treatment. Once you’ve got a sense of the procedure, we welcome you to get in touch with our team and try it for yourself.
What is Qwo®, and How Does it Work?
Proper dietary and exercise habits pay dividends in the long run. Studies show that maintaining a healthy lifestyle can significantly slow the aging process and improve your longevity. That said, cellulite is sadly just a part of women’s biology. In women, the arrangement of muscle and fat can lead to the development of cellulite, despite healthy eating and workout habits. Once it develops, dimpled skin can be tricky to deal with. That’s where this treatment comes in.
The Qwo® cellulite treatment is the first FDA-approved injectable to address moderate-to-severe cellulite in the buttocks of adult women. These injections are made up of a compound called clostridium histolyticum-aaes. This compound features enzymes called collagenases. When injected into areas of cellulite, these enzymes are believed to target a structural cause of cellulite under the skin. Once the fibrous bands that contribute to cellulite are released, fat cells are redistributed, and the growth of new collagen is promoted.
What Can I Expect?
This treatment has been tested in a clinical trial that featured over 1,800 participants The results showed a reduction in cellulite concentration in the buttocks at the end of the trial period. This suggests that Qwo® can be an effective, minimally invasive choice for those interested in cellulite reduction.
While some normal side effects such as bruising, soreness, or hardness (among others) can be experienced, there is no downtime required after an injection.
