Peach Fuzz

Peach fuzz is that harmless collection of very light hair that grows on our faces. These hairs are rarely seen unless under direct light and are generally not an issue for most people. However, if you apply makeup regularly, you may be keener on frequently spotting this hair. In some cases, the hair can feel like a nuisance and many would prefer to have it removed. At BodyLase® Med Spa, we’re happy to offer vellus hair removal in the form of our dermaplaning aesthetic treatment. If you’re ready to smooth your complexion and get the look you’ve always wanted, we’re here to help.

What Causes Peach Fuzz?

Vellus hair or “peach fuzz” develops in childhood and is perfectly normal. Its appearance is typically so light that most people don’t really notice it. The reason some people have more of this hair than others comes down to genetics. While some believe that this hair is caused by an underlying issue such as Hirsutism, this is actually not the case. Developing peach fuzz is completely normal and removing it won’t cause your skin any harm nor will it increase its growth.

Improving Your Skin with Dermaplaning

Here at our North Carolina medspas, we provide the dermaplaning treatment to provide gentle but profound exfoliation and removal of vellus hairs. This method is completely safe and natural! During a dermaplaning session, a scalpel held at a 45-degree angle is used to exfoliate the top layer of your skin. Along with this, the procedure also removes excess peach fuzz, leaving your skin smooth and hair-free. Sessions can be done in under an hour and there is no downtime required after a visit.
